Trick Eye Museum in Hongdae

Prepare yourselves for pictures of me TRICKIN’ YO’ EYE$. A few weeks ago, my friend Jolan and I went to the Trick Eye Museum in Hongdae. I had previously visited one back in October, but had twelve running and screaming kindergartners to entertain.

The museum cost us ₩15,000 ($12.60) to enter. Fortunately for us, we basically had the whole museum to ourselves for the majority of our time there. For those of you unfamiliar, these “museums” are full of 2D paintings (and some sculptures) that are meant to give off a 3D effect. With correct positioning, you can appear to be in the pictures. WHAT MORE COULD YOU ASK FOR?

As we had free reign, we ran about the premises like kids in a candy store. We crawled on the floor, straddled sculptures, and eventually ran through a mirror maze. When I say “ran,” I actually mean panic a little/cry a lot. THE STRESS WAS ALL TOO REAL.

NOW LOOK AT ALL THESE DERPY PICTURES OF YO’ GUHL JEN. I never claimed to be a model, but dammit… I tried.

Dreams do come true.

Too casual.

As I am actually scared of fish, this picture represents a level of hell for me.

Jolan on a bike… in Ancient Greece? I don’t get it, but whatever.

After making it out of the maze, we went to the carnival section of the building. Jolan and I saw a dunk tank. OF COURSE WE HAD TO TRY IT OUT. Jolan went first and cut her elbows. Not letting her injury deter me, I hopped on the plank and smashed my already damaged heels (I had to get x-ray therapy on them in Budapest). Was it an experience? Yes. Would I do it again? No.

Smile to hide the pain, Jen. Smile to hide the pain.

All I could think of at the time: “Germs. Germs. Germs.”

I thoroughly recommend visiting the Trick Eye Museum if you have the chance. In the words of Hilary Duff, “Why Not?”
