My rabies shots were still good (I think) when I surrounded myself with raccoons, so breathe easy. Located in Hyehwah, one of my favorite areas in Seoul, 라쿤카페 꾸꾸네 is an awesome café with real live raccoons.
Before entering the café, you have to take off your shoes and put on slippers. The entrance fee is ₩6,000 and you have to buy a drink as well. WORTH IT. A handful of beautiful, fluffy raccoons adorably scurry around the premises. I went with my friends Monica, Brent, and Wenner. We had just successfully escaped out of a Seoul Escape Room, so the mood was just right.
Let me just say right now that I COULD NOT PROCESS being in the presence of raccoons. My excitement was through the roof. One would never come to the conclusion that I graduated with honors when I am overcome with emotions. Monica, please confirm – I think I said “Oh my goddddd. I can’ttttt. Stopppp. Whyyyyy. They are soooo cuteeeee. Oh my godddddd.” for a solid ten minutes while holding my face. Animals tend to make me cry, so of course I was on the verge of tears as well.
When you order your drink and pay the fee, you are given a list of rules that you have to abide by. Most, if not all of it, is common sense. Try not to piss the raccoons off and they will happily go about their precious lives.
I really have no other words to say. If you are in the area and want to chill with rabies-free raccoons, check out 라쿤카페 꾸꾸네. I will be back for you, raccoons. I WILL BE BACK.
